... on minimum wage in 2009. We predicted that these annual hikes in minimum wage would crush our already struggling business, now we have closed on July 31st, 2010. See related follow-up CNN video.

NOTE: Watch the cashier in the background answering the phone during the live interview. One of the calls was a rather nasty woman who told the cashier that we were liars, and all business people were rich and NEEDED to be forced to pay higher wages. Well, a year later we are out of business, and eight more people are out of work, and we lost $300,000 in REAL money. Not a tax write-off, not some numbers on paper, but real dollars from a second mortgage (which still has to be repaid), IRAs for retirement, now liquidated, and the associated penalty paid, savings, stock investments, all GONE trying to sustain the unsustainable burden of increasing costs, mostly from government controls, laws, and rule changes. When people think in this ignorant manner, and turn that ignorance into votes for control of things they DO NOT understand, they inherit the just results of their uninformed opinions, but we ALL suffer in the end.
Then these people should not even have a business. Businesses that can pay a higher wage deserve success. We need smarter businesses with better quality products and services that can pay a decent wage.
