Join us as Seth Jones, longtime Afghanistan observer and RAND political scientist, discusses in his new book In the Graveyard of Empires how the siphoning of resources from the war in Afghanistan to Iraq left U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan ineffectual and without support. In the book-which the New York Times calls "useful" and the policy recommendations "logical"-Dr. Jones explains how a growing sanctuary for insurgents in Pakistan and a collapsing government in Kabul catalyzed the Taliban resurgence. Examining what has worked thus far-and what hasn't-Dr. Jones argues that we must take a radically new approach to the war if the United States is to avoid the disastrous fate that has befallen every world power to enter the region, from Alexander the Great to the Soviet Union.
@kshirey74 Like I said mind you own damn business since we in the US does not have democracy or whatever "ocracy" you'll have been selling to the rest of the world..Amerika has this hypocracy about her, meddling in other peoples business when Amerika have unfinished business with the native aboriginal people and the former enslaved blacks stolen from Afrika, Afghan people can managed their own business without western greedy bastards creating tribal conflicts as a rouse to steal their resources

@blkpanther08 read the book! The reason we are over there are because they have had serious trouble taking care of themselves. I am not agreeing with the war, but Afghanistan has been manipulated by different radical groups for a long time ranging from communist to radical fundamentalist Muslim insurgents. There has been civil wars since the early 1900's and never has been able to decide on a governing body in a democratic fashion.

Another imperialist trying to put their spin on how to help these so called savages..These people are quite capable of managing their affairs..They have been taking care of themselves before europeans knew what clothers, or proper sanitation looked like..I get tired of the jewish, british invaders meddling in other countries business, with the end game being ro swindle these people out of their resources...

Afghans themselves know much better their own culture and how to deal with their problems. The problem lies in the western powers trying to impose "their" solution to the Afghan problem, while the neighboring countries are taking advantage of the situation and meddling in the internal affairs. They need to cut off the hands of the neighbors. Only then there can be a united Afghan force that will be ready to tackle the problems. Otherwise NATO could be there forever and still achieve nothing.

Pakistan is the epicenter of terrorism around the world. Every major terrorist attack of the past 10 years -- including 9/11, Spain train bombings, London subway, 26/11, and many others -- are directly from Pakistan. Stop funding Pakistan's Army and ISI, which is financing radical jihadist groups. The world's safety depends on it.

dear brothers in faith ... stop fighting with each other and outsiders and bad-mouthers ... instead we should regroup and focus on our global alliance and reclaim our lost splendor. If we let them divert our attention to these petty things ... we are wasting our time which we don't have enough on our hands. Because only muslims can delay the End of Times ... this ummah is meant to be the only resistance by evil and thats why they are targeting at us.
