  • the port is too damn big for those level 4's...poor cones can hardly move, is better you put it in a wall instead of boxes like those, its killing the performance right there...hope the coils still good in them though.

That's how many square inches of port you have there?

  • @ModzVonXyborg Do you have any idea what you actually said?? Why is a wall actually better? Is it really better and in what circumstances? You cannot see the depth of the boxes, so I doubt you can guess the tuning.. If it wasn't obvious from the pieces of 4x4s stuffed / clamped in the ports, they were designed for SPL use only.. Me playing music with them was just for kicks.. (the cone excursion was very controlled and well within the suspension limits.. just fyi)

  • @3stagevtec ok first off...sub up and port up....big no no, I don't care if you hit 150...big deal, my team two 12's hit 153 at 32hz in usaci a few months and to boot its a half wall...why would a wall be better cause you would have more pressure control than a box like that....check it out, the ply you use is too thin, the baffle is weak, the port is way to big, the cones can hardly move with music....better you go back to the drawing board.

  • @ModzVonXyborg Wow, now I know you have NO idea what your talking about.. I know some dedicated SPL cars in my country who have hit 158 - 159dB with 2 10"s in ultimate builds.. and they used sub / port forward designs. Sub and port orientation is really just the small picture here. There's alot more to SPL than that.

Ply I use? it's resin soaked mdf, internally braced.. Baffle too weak? it's 2.25" thick. Cone hardly moves = Excellent control! duh, it's an SPL box..

  • @3stagevtec proof or you blowing smoke up my ass

  • @ModzVonXyborg No smoke man, i'm serious.. Ask any knowledgeable speaker box designer, not your everyday self proclaimed SPL expert.. Have you ever seen some of the more serious SPL only walled vehicles? They use wayy more port area than me, but those enclosures can only play a very narrow bandwidth. The reason my subs appear to move little is because of the high port tuning freq, excursion is most controlled at the port tuning.. most of the bass in the music was right around port tuning..

  • @ModzVonXyborg What team did you refer to when you said 'your team hit 153dB @ 32Hz'? I know we don't have USACi here in Trinidad...
