I made a comment not so long ago today when I first heard Alexandre and he was playing my favourite concerto of J S Bach, differently to what I had ever heard, and I said how that I expected to learn from his difference. On hearing this piece I realize what it is, it is the higher level of performance where meaning through exquisite touch and subtle timbre and other such considerations are the dominating feature. Alexandre applies himself to the piano as Charles Neiditch does to the clarinet.

These days Yamahas are often used in concerts and for recording. They're excellent pianos. The days of Steinway dominance are over. Richter owned a Yamaha that he took with him for concerts.

I can't believe he's recording on a Yamaha. He plays so well I didn't notice.

Recently bought this album... I can't stop listening to it! And Alexandre Tharaud is just like I imagined him to be :) His speaking voice is just as beautiful as his performance.
Quel homme délicieux, fin, cultivé raffiné et qui connait sa musique.
