You will learn how to using my lab sheet with an on-line Gas Simulator created by Dr. Greenbowe from Iowa State University. You will set a syrings with plunger to 6 different pressures. The inverse of pressure is simply 1 divided by P, or 1/P. If you plot pressure and volume directly, you get a curved line, which means that they are not directly proportional. You will see that Boyle's genius was to realize that P (pressure) and V (volume) are indirectly proportional. When you plot 1/P and V together, you get a straight line which means they are directly proportional!
