All things real is the debut album by Edinburgh based singer, songwriter Steve Adey. Ten songs, 40 minutes. The album comprises eight original compositions plus two covers. Originally recorded with an orchestra (including members of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra) and choral ensemble, but was shelved in preference for a more linear sounding album....."It was bordering on the technical - I wanted to avoid an intelligent, unapproachable sound so I re-recorded with friends in an intimate setting. Bob Dylan's 'Shelter from the storm' is at first unrecognisable - a slow piano-vocal led ballad that builds to a cacophony. The song is currently receiving airplay in the US. There will be a UK radio edit (available for promo use only) available early April. Steve also takes on the Bonnie Prince Billy song - 'I see a darkness'. ...."One of the greatest songs ...The lyrics are totally nailed. I love the humanity and the honesty the lyrics evoke. I think we all feel these things, but getting people to talk and write about this so succinctly is scarce. " The single 'Find the way' was recorded in a disused church."I recorded the piano and vocal in a church using an old grand piano. It was the only song that made it from the first sessions. The final verse (are you finding it hard?) was superimposed from a later version". A visualization of the song will be available on the forthcoming CD single from April. www.steveadey.com

  • This is actually an excellent cover that does everything right. Far too often cover bands attempt to recreate the original and sound as similar as they can to the original artist which is a waste of everyone's time b/c if we want the original we can go to the source

A cover should add new dimensions to a song that the listener has never heard. Adey strips the song of all, but the lyrics and shows how strong they really were. You can't ask for anything more.

  • I like Dylan's version more.... I prefer the vibe of the original.

I like this cover too though. By slowing the song down so much and using the piano he gave the song a whole new twist. It's like this is truly his version and not just one of thousands of Dylan covers.

    Thanks for uploading ^^

  • i like it. rather fresh take on it.

  • I prefer the original version , but this isn't bad

  • this is shite. This bloke sounds like a right drip.

  • when people do bob dylan covers, other then hendrix's all along the watch tower they are usually terrible. this is no different.

  • I must say, I like this version a lot. I heard this cover first and when I finally looked up the original I was a bit disappointed.

    Keep up the good work!
