  • how many wild animals live in those trees??? who cares about 40 trees. 40 trees dont change the air at all. this is completely gay. seriously its 40 freaking trees. lets complan about 40 trees but then go about our normal lives producing thousands of pounds of trash a year. quit pretending this is important.

  • It is essential in an urban environment to have trees to clean and filter the air. A grove of trees in the middle of an urban area allows people to take a break from the concrete jungle, relax and chill out for a bit. The destruction of this grove is just another stab at open space; just another building in the place of trees in the so called name of "progress". If all people thought this way, we would not have the open spaces that we now enjoy. I hope you will educate yourself on this matter.

  • 40 oak trees don't change anything. Yes they absorb a very small amount of CO2 but not nearly enough for anyone to notice. I understand if that contiuned, eventually it would have a small affect but we aren't. we are talking about 40 trees. you admit the trees are just used for people to "relax and chill out for a bit". no real other purpose. once again... this is a gay (stupid) protest considering everything else going on in the world. stop pretending this is important.

  • Your use of the word "gay " shows your intelligence. In a world that is becoming increasingly stressful there is a lot to be said for a quiet place to relax and reflect. These places are becoming more difficult to find in an urban landscape. I hope you will educate yourself on this issue and understand that it is more complex than just killing forty trees. Will you please enlighten us as to why the athletic center should be built here instead of the two other proposed areas?

  • Like other people said, 40 trees don't change much, but if you want to improve something you can plant more trees somewhere else.

Have you been doing it for 2 years? WOW! You could plant jungles already instead of wasting your time.

  • Seriously, guys. Do you realize that you are making more damage than good? The only special thing about these trees is that they are old. Every tree becomes old after being young for a while so not a big deal. If you really think that having trees is important you can go and spread some oak seeds somewhere where it can grow, but you prefer not doing anything other than interfering with UC Berkeley construction.

  • That is just plain nutty.

  • Wavy Gravy endorsed Obama which in turn endorses War with Iran and Pakistan..

  • i hate these hippies.

  • wow after seeing this it show me these people have no idea what is really going on in this location if your going to make a vid about the enviroment you need to read up on the plan for the tree removal

  • they dont filter out that much air and you would need far more than 40 trees to filter out the air enough for you to know anthing changed

  • Go Saint Boniface...

  • This issue is much more complex then just killing 40 trees. In addition to my explanation below, there is also the tension between State and local laws. UC states they are immune from local laws because they are a State institution. The protection of the oak trees preserves our urban landscape. This project is one of many that are in the works to change the entire landscape of this part of the campus. It should be done with community input. How does your above comment relate to this issue?
