  • If this experiment is to prove co2 absorbs heat, that's great we all agree. However.. What was the concentration of co2 in that tube?

Wikipedia says: CO2 is a trace gas comprising 0.039% of the atmosphere. Not even 0.1% of our atmosphere and we NEED it for plants to thrive. I bet you that tube was closer to 100% co2.

  • @LeJimster

'I bet you that tube was closer to 100% co2.' And that is the point of the experiment, to prove that co2 absorbes heat! Beyond any doubt.

  • no offense, but I already agreed co2 absorbs heat. I was talking about the wider issue of co2 causing "global warming" when it's in such a tiny concentration.

  • @LeJimster

And so is water vapour in a much larger concentration, but

  • Plants need it, you and I exhale it and its nothing new for the planet.

if anything is a problem, why not look at the over 2000 NUCLEAR tests done in the last 50 years!

  • @asmartassfool

'Plants need it' not that old deniers mis-information again! So watch

  • @asmartassfool Mankind releases approximately 100 times more CO2 per year on average than volcanic action.

  • @LeJimster I think the point being demonstrated by the experiment was that as CO2 increases, more heat is absorbed. The end result is that at high concentrations of CO2, 100% of the heat is absorbed.

The main idea was that increasing CO2 increases heat retention, not demonstrating "what concentration of CO2 is required to block 100% of outgoing infrared radiation on Earth". If you want an idea of what extremely high concentrations of CO2 would do, look to Venus.

My you do seem angry about something! And

'The 30000 scientists ... come from a petition drive organized by Arthur Robinson of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM). Arthur Robinson is a fruitcake biochemist who lists 6 scientists as being "faculty" of his "institute' which is run out of his farm. 1 of the faculty members he lists has been dead for 7 years, another dead for 2 years.'
