@redeemer61190 Most of the artisans and materials were contracted in Italy and France..Stained Glass and Marble.Not enough given Cote D'Ivoire's economy and population. Every video and picture is desolate and empty.Why no People?

I like it, its one hell of a structure. True, it may not have been the most appropriate construction given Cote D'Ivoire's economy and population, but it now has claim to having the largest church in the world, larger than St. Peter's Basilica in Rome!

How can you be proud of someone spending 300 million on a Cathedral when your country's dirt poor? He was the president, not a religious leader. All the great cathedrals of the world were built not only during times of surplus but were the economic engines of the towns built around them. With pilgrimages, markets and towns that flourished when a Cathedral was built, they paid for themselves. IC's monument to vanity, is a reminder of leaders gone amuck and people too blind to call it out.

@mta415 i didn't say the US bought it....i said i would spend my money making this building than the statue of liberty,and u mentioned how the statue of liberty was a gift from france

@kickitable the Liberty enlightening the World statue was a gift, from France, not purchased from France ;-)
