Wow, I can remember this broadcast of the John Peel show!
-
I only heard recently that John Waters had asked for this. It is a song I turn to again and again when sad. I listened to it the other week when Dill died and I've been listening again tonight hearing of the death of another sportsman. Oh those Johns - they did know what to play.

They touched so many lives.

why are these fuckers dead when certain scumbags live forever

Heaven certainly has a good radio show! RIP John Peel and John Walters.

Peely and Waters - such a part of my childhood, sorely missed, never, ever forgotten
-
I often come across John's voice playing through my old cassettes, tears sometimes roll but more often than not sheer joy at the wondrous kaleidoscope of music this great man introduced me to, thanks always John , never stop missing you xxxxxxx

@tain36 and now you can digitise it using one of those cassette players with USB, and relive it :)

I listened to this driving from Lancashire to Kent. once upon a time in a happier life.

I might have done better at school had I not been staying up late to listen to Peelie. But I regret that not one bit.
I always find it difficult to comprehend that neither of them are around any more. Despite their exotic tastes in music, they were both such grounded characters, and the sudden non-existence of such types is always more difficult to comprehend.

I cried for two reasons listening just now, I blame the drink. Definitely the drink. Must stop going on-line after the pub. RIP John and John.
