Hmm sort of in sync, youtube is very dodgy.
My favo parts of the VG-99 product demo. It's a shame that my current VG-88 doesn't have the bass models! The VG line of Roland can make your Gibson sound like a Fender and vice versa. But it isn't limited to a few guitar models. There are acoustic, tele, gretsch and many more models to choose from. This isn't MIDI, this is real time DSP so NO latency or delay when playing. And the tuning of the model is independent of the tuning of your strings(!). It is a bit forgiving (easier) when playing with a guitar model, so I practice with only amp modeling but having fun with the guitar modeling.
The guy in the white shirt is Gundy Keller, and IMHO he's one of the finest demonstrators on this planet. The VG-99 has like two VG-88's inside which can be switched on the loudness of your play and has more amp and guitar models. But sound quality wise the VG-88 is on par, cheaper and is a floor board.
Also definitely check out Angelo (guitarist of Anouk) rocking some models on my VG-88: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI8Qp3L16qc
I built-in a GK3 pickup in the guitar myself so you don't have that ugly (though removable) pickup. Looks way better on stage.
wow.. this sounds about 1000x better than a Variax! How come I never really heard of this or VG Strat before they got discontinued?

@brandon9271 Hi Brandon, thx for the comment! And yes, I also prefer the Roland system over that of a Line6. Both sound a bit plastic in the end though, nothing beats the real thing! The Roland sounds great and using it live nobody will complain. The good news: maybe the VG Strat is discontinued but the VG system isn't! All you need is a VG99 and a GK2 pickup to add to your favorite guitar. I built a GK2A kit 'invisibly' into an Epihone SG, pretty doable.

@josja71 these videos actually got me looking at the VG series! just one more this to "G.A.S" about! lol any experience with the VG-88? They seem quite affordable used.. and the new GR-55 seems like a good as well since in includes the pickup. The main draw for me is the alt tuning! That's amazing for playing live and also some writing. Latency is pretty bad on the variax. How is it on VG system?

@brandon9271 I had a VG88 and I can tell you I never heard any latency, some might notice it, but I sure didn't. The difference with the VG99 are: the VG99 got bass models and two processors (it can emulate two guitars at once). I sold my VG88 (having progressed to real guitars and amps) but I always liked the bass models of the VG99. But since I started playing bass myself I don't need those models anymore. The alternative tuning is the same on both models and is indeed verrrry useful live.

@brandon9271 Ow and I'm a beginning guitarist so my opinions should be valued accordingly :) Played keys for 32 years and am a music producer, I know how a guitar should sound like but playing it is not my forte.
