  • @xrjockey Is that California? Never heard of that in Washington. Leave it to California to think up something like that.

  • There are exsposure levels for the operators. The state only let us run 6 hours without a cab. The job was bid for 10 hr. days. Had to put cabs on all 12 631s`

  • some days i miss the old open cab especcially when the ac cant keep up ohh the vision sooo much better none of those pesky trucks sneaking up on ya and turning in ur blind spots

  • I was actually runnin the pushcat in front on this vid. And for the record ACI is old school but all of the new equipment they get they leave the cabs on. Just look at the 10T

It still has a cab. That job was at the east end of Newhall Ranch Rd in Santa Clarita.

  • ACI is Southern California. Most of the earth moved in the U.S. for residential purposes is in Califorinia. And it's open cab on alot of companies"mate" Thats just how they do it. ;)

  • @rocklinrebel71 Really?? Where abouts is this if you dont mind me asking? I live and operate in Australia driving a D10N and we would never even contemplate an open cab machine!

  • Because ACI is old school...even when they get a brand new machine the first thing they do is remove the doors and A/C. Bring a bandana and dress accordingly when working for ACI.

  • Why are the 10's open cab??

  • Excellent video. The CAT 660B's 'big brother', the 666B is widely regarded as the best scraper ever made. Sadly, Caterpillar discontinued the 660B and 666B in 1979 although a few samples such as those shown here still exist in running condition. Just for curiousity, why are there white lines on the tractor wheels of the 660B's? To make sure the operators don't spin the tires on dry soil? Anyway, I'd love to see videos of the CAT 666B scrapers in action.

  • Good video. I know in the UK scrapers are not used so much for large projects now. There is always the argument which is cheaper and quicker to use to shift soil a scraper and dozer helping it or just using a larger excavator and some trucks to cart the soil and the excavator and trucks are normally used these days.
