Thanks! That was super helpful. I was always trying to work the top knitting into the front after the first flip, and that's where I would screw up.

If you want the cast on end to be pointy cast on less stitches then increase (add stitches like a KFB stitch). If you want a pointy finished end you would cast on however many stitches you need and when you get to where you want to make it pointy you would decrease (subtract stitches like K2TOG stitch).
The decrease or increase is worked over many rows so it slants gracefully.
To cinch the end into a rough point thread yarn on needle, pass through sts on needles, remove needles and pull.
