@ARom16 I don't think that's true, you can get a classic-low-gain crunch and clean sound with this amp. I personally think it's because the original 2203 is now a reissue of a classic.

the guitar needs some tuning i think either that or there is so much distortion that everything is being conglomerated together

@DrFeelGood4tw well ya. its a JCM 800 reissue... with the separate beast mode. It has every bit as much versatility as a regular JCM 800 but then also a hot rod mod. Paul is full of shit. the thing sounds great for hard rock/ classic rock. Side by side to a 800 with out the beast mode it sounds identical.... and is cheaper.

Curious, can you engaged the gate and roll back the "Beast" nob completely. I want to basically use a Boss HM-2 (for that Swedish Death Metal tone) in front of a JCM 800 and have the excess noise taken out. Is it possible?
