Photoshop Tutorial: Creating Fire Text

A step-by-step guide on how to make lovly looking flame text.

Ok firstly the music is
The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into The Sun

Now for the step by step in TEXT.

1.Open up a new file/page and change the settings to 800 x 600 and background colour white.

2.Create a new layer, by clicking layer on the top bar and then clicking new then layer.

3.Make this new layer Black by clciking the paint bucket tool and clciking anywhere on the layer.

4.Now you add your text. Make sure that the text is in the regions of 150px and 210px. (it is easier to work with)

5.Center the text.

6.Now, click filter on the top bar and goto sub menu Blur, now on the next little menu click Gaussian Blur.

5.It will now make the text uneditable, when u click ok.

6.When the box pops up make sure to change the pixels to 2.4!

7.Now heres the fun part, click the smudge tool on the left and make flame like smudges, PLEASE take your time, it looks amazing if you take your time.

8.After you are happy with your smudges, Press CTRL + E to merge down these layers.

9.Once they are merged right click the layer on the right and Duplicate it.

10.Back to your first layer, Press CTRL + U to access the colour alterations, MAKE SURE TO COLORIZE, change the saturation to 100 and the Hue within the region of 40 - 50.

11.Now click on your Duplicate layer and do the same but make sure to COLORIZE and make the HUE between 5 - 15.

12.You won't see a change in layer 1 until you do the next step.

13.Click on layer 2 and above it there should be a drop down menu, click that and goto Linear Dodge.

14.You should now see a flame like text.

15.Not a must but you can recrete your text and place it onto of the flame to make it look asif its the word that is on fire.

And thats it, it took me only 5 mins to learn, just practice muck abbout and have fun ... Please notify me if there is something wrong or if you have any further sugestions. Thank You

shnarf95 bro when i want to save the pic that i made i want to open it with another program or i want it to be like the other pictures what can i do?? please help

@7885404 Do you mean saving the file as a universal format? such as .JPEG?

If that is what you mean Try this.

...WHen you are finished with the image, Click File>Save as> (and a window should pop-up.. Underneath the area where you type the name of the image. You will see a drop down menu for the file type. Click JPEG and follow instructions from there onwards. If thats not what you mean, Get back to me :)

im new at PS and i want to ask u how to change one word into another but same looking as original and same size, type etc. for example if i would have a pic that underneeth is writen "car" and that word would be white colored and with graffiti type of style and i want to change that word into for example "hi" but to look the same white graffiti type

Well firstly you would have to have the same Font style that was used to create the word in the first place. That may take time, but head onto forums and post a Screen cap of the word and someone in the community will healp you find the original font. :)
