I demand that congress should apologize for following a tradition brought to Europe from Portugal, which they inherited it from the ottomans who were Muslim. Leaders of ISLAM should apologize for the millions of people still enslaved today. Not only labor slaves, but their sex slaves.

Congress should also issue a broad commendation for white Christians like Lincoln, Wilberforce, and countless others, who finally put an end to slavery in civilized countries around the world.

@Unkerlant Well thank you for that!!! I am white and right of center and this Liberal PC condescending garbage is always rammed down our throats. I am tired of how dominating and condescending many Liberals try to be when discussing issues of race with other non Liberals. It is so moral and strength draining and abusive. Neither does being pegged as the supposed obviously "must be" racist at the outset of such discussions feel good to any conservative, especially a "white" one.

As a black person, who grew up around black people, I can honestly say that I have never met anyone that seriously gave a shit about any of these apologies for slavery. We're too busy living in the present!

And though I'm more left of center than anything else, I really get annoyed by liberal PC. To me, it just comes off as condescending.

Black African tribes were holding other African black trbals as slaves for hundereds of years before any white men got to africa to buy any. Europe had white slavery by white feudal lords for hundereds of years before they went to Africa to get any. So no skin color or ethnic race is immune to holding slaves. The whole skin color thing was just a scapegoat for slavery here. Just like Hitler scapegoating Jews as vermin in order to justify killing them.
