We're not sure who wrote SHORT'NIN BREAD but many people think that the song was sung by the slaves working on the plantations in the South before the Civil War.
You can make your own short'nin bread just like the cooks did on the plantations down south! First get some flour, brown sugar, butter, a pinch of salt, a recipe, and a responsible adult to help you. Mix all the ingredients together and then pop it in the oven. While the bread is baking you can have fun singing (and dancing) the song along with Peppermint. When the short'nin bread is done, eat your tasty treat! You can find a good recipe at: http://southerncuisine.suite101.com/article.cfm/shortnin_bread_recipe.
