At the Consumer Electronics Show, Hannah Clark Steiman of Inc. magazine talks with a representative from Lenovo about the company's huge new laptop, which has an extra screen that pulls out of the main screen.
I know this laptop is probably far from perfect, but its major positive point ( As you will see on many YouTube reviews) its fast as hell (Even with an humble 2.53 Core 2 Duo and a FX2700 )
Im the proud owner of a brand new W700. (Not the beast, W700DS) If you had problem since day 1 with your lcd screen, why didnt you checked that out with Lenovo's support services ? Everybody knows that the WUXGA+ remain a top of the class screen type. Far better than my WXGA+. (Who is inconsistent, a bit glarry)
The Lenovo W700 has 70% Color Gamut, let's take a look at the competition: HP EliteBook 8730w 96%, Dell Precision M6400 100%, Sony VAIO AW 137%. Get it now?
As for the 1900X1200 resolution, I wonder how many 17" laptops do not offer you this resolution. If you are happy with what the marketing whore provides, fine!
I do 3D, FX, compositing, editing and animation for a living and as I said before this machine is fine for that but there are way better machines for photographers out there.
Misplaced comments? I wonder how many people writing or talking about this machine own one and work as professionals in the field. I've been using the W700 with the QX9300 and Quadro FX 3700M for nearly a year (I bought it when it came out) so I know from first hand what I'm talking about. I stand on my previous comment, the screen is crap (slight halo on the bottom since day one), contrast sucks and what should I say about the most important factor for photographers, Color Gamut...
Calm down Aitor. The W700DS is a radical machine created first, for the photographers and next, for the gamers or any persons demanding heavy graphics processing. ( Thanks to the dedicated Nvidia Fx ) Check the full specs before laying down some misplaced comments.
By the way, the 17'' screen is more than beautiful. ( 400 Knits ) up to 1900X1200...
Ah, well I'll make sure and inform the number of photographers I know that own one that they are in fact mistaken and they are wrong about how much they enjoy their systems. Thanks
Stop lying to people GOD DAMN!!!! This machine is not suitable for photographers in any way! The main screen is already bad, imagine using the 10" one...the calibrator doesn't help much. If you do 3D stuff is fine. Similar to the Dell M6400.
