Soprano Gillian Zammit has just released a new CD entitled The Love Songs of Paolo Tosti. Accompanied by pianist Lucia Micallef this CD features a collection of the most beautiful songs by the Italian composer. Tosti's songs have a distinctive quality, featuring beautiful melodic phrases together with a deceptively simple elegance. One element that links them all is his inspired choice of poetic text. Perhaps more than any other composer of the era, his songs are distinguished by a finer quality of literary works. Tosti's work is centered around a single, universal and unifying theme, that of love.
