From the album "Close To The Edge" (1972), by the band Yes, formed by Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Steve Howe, Chris Squire and Rick Wakeman.

Lyrics:

Sing, bird of prey;
Beauty begins at the foot of you. do you believe the manner?
Gold stainless nail,
Torn through the distance of man
As they regard the summit.

Even siberia goes through the motions.
Hold out and hold up;
Hold down the window. outbound, river,
Hold out the morning that comes into view. bluetail, tailfly.
River running right on over my head.

How does she sing?
Who holds the ring? and ring and you will find me coming.
Cold reigning king,
Hold all the secrets from you
As they produce the movement.

Even siberia goes through the motions.
Hold out and hold up;
Hold down the window. outbound, river,
Hold out the morning that comes into view. bluetail, tailfly.
River running right over the outboard, river,
Bluetail, tailfly,
Luther, in time.
Doodndoodit, dah, dt-dt-dah.

Hold down the window;
Hold out the morning that comes into view.
Warm side, the tower;
Green leaves reveal the heart spoken khatru.

Gold stainless nail,
Torn through the distance of man as they regard the summit.
Cold reigning king,
Shelter the women that sing
As they produce the movement.
River running right on over,
Then over my head. outboard, river.

Bluetail, tailfly,
Luther, in time,
Suntower, asking,
Cover, lover,
June cast, moon fast,
As one changes,
Heart gold, leaver,
Soul mark, mover,
Christian, changer,
Called out, saviour,
Moon gate, climber,
Turn round, glider.

  • Steve Howe was and will always be my favorite guitar player.I count myself lucky to have been around when Yes' popularity was at it's peak.Saw them 4 times in the 70's.One night I got home after a show only to find the local radio station (K-101,Houston) playing all their albums in a row.This one of those bands you can just fall into.They take you places only music can.Very special.

  • For the duration of the 1970's, Yes was the greatest rock band. Nobody can top them...ever.

  • @webgeek6 I think I might. Not that I'm special or anything; I think you older folks have done a good job of passing this great stuff down in general. Just 'cuz it doesn't get radio play doesn't mean it isn't being heard. Never fear, I think the force of intelligence and creativity will win out in the end. Then again, maybe I am just way too high right now.

  • @yesman1957 Rush could with only 3 members,that is the number one reason Rush will always trump YES but if it wasnt for Rush Yes or Floyd would be my fav!

  • @zectofrazer not as good though rick was da bomb

  • @thelilymoore the beatles and genesis could

  • @Robinator7991 God no! Hatemail? No way.

  • @TheMrGrendel Theyre different. but in individual talent yes, the beatles are surpassed by yes (no pun intended)

  • @TheOneEyedHound I agree. although i sort of expected hate mail when i posted that one comment i love yes sincerely
