Now thats what you call battle dammage! Incidentally , The Enterprise D would have had a warp core breach if it had sustained such a shot to it's warp nacelle.

Wonderful job! The flaming nacelle reminded me of WWII bomber's engines on fire.

YE GODS!! Hands down the best fan made Trek footage I have EVER seen! Please, please do more!

@MrPixel42 Thanks, that's really kind of you to say :) My days doing f/x for fan productions are over, though. The truth is, it takes an enormous amount of time, and I just can't afford to do that much work for free. That said, if I ever strike it rich, I'll dive right back in ;)

@JoelB71 The time, effort and talent that went into those shots is more than obvious. Did you also do the rest of the FX shots from the episode? (i.e. blood worms, phaser disruptions etc..) I just finished the first 5 segments of Blood and Fire and it is amazing! I'm a die hard Trek fan since my diaper days watching TOS it was great to watch a new episode. Honestly loved it!!

@MrPixel42 The initial, closeup bloodworm shot was done by another artist. I did the rest, as well as all the phaser fire and disintegrations, and lots of airbrushing work that hopefully isn't noticeable. Really glad you enjoyed the episode :)

The scene choreography looks great (probably THE best fan Trek CGI battle sequence I have ever seen). Was this sequence storyboarded because it seems to have a very nice flow to it (the spinning Klingon launching a torpedo in mid spin was most excellent). Were you given a free hand at this or did Cawley and company have a specific theme in mind with how the fight progressed?

@JMChladek Thanks for the kind words! The external shots for the battle were described in general terms in the script, with a couple of details here and there. I added a fair bit to it (because it was a fun opportunity and also because I'm a glutten for punishment ;) ) and storyboarded the whole sequence to make it easier to organize the flow of the battle.
