Do guys actually scatter like bunnies when a woman enters a comic book shop? No. That's called humorous exaggeration.

Are some comic book shops full of guys that openly stare at any woman who comes in? YES. It does happen, and it's stupid and uncomfortable as hell. If you all have never seen it happen, then you are either very lucky or very oblivious.

It must be pretty awkward ...It never happened to me... so I guess in Italy it's different, here they don't care ( or maybe ... I never noticed it, ...mhhh I'll pay attention next time to see if I was just being clueless or not )

i got to my local shop every Wednesday and no one does that, thankfully. instead they're all like "Hey, what did you think of last week's Blah Blah issue?" I usually spend 1-2 hours in there every time talking with the clerks and other customers about what we're reading and what we recommend. And I'm rarely the only woman in the store, I can usually count on seeing a couple of other familiar women in there every week, eager to chat with another female comic fan. I love my shop.

Oh I feel your pain! Being a comic fan AND gamer who happens to be female, I get all kinds of entertaining reactions. I have had someone shout with surprised aggravation "There's a GIRL in the GAME ROOM?!?!?" like I was treading on sacred ground.

There's this comic shop that I got to that has, like, a tiny section dedicated to, like, girly comics and mangas which is always filled with girls, but the second I walk towards the new Batman, every guy's eye is on me. It's so awkward. Especially when I wear something vaguely girly, like a skirt or something. O~O
