  • 40 miles to the charge in the Volt? That is just not acceptable! How stupid do these auto giants think we are? We can build space stations, and watch TV on our phones, but we can't produce an all EV? America has been dumbed down by our Government. The infrastructure for EV's is already in place, it just needs some updating like the rest of the infrastructure across the country. Current gas stations could easily stock batteries. There needs to be a battery consensus throughout automakers, however.

  • Detroit definitely needs to pay attention here! But the fact that Daimler has invested money does not impress me. Don't you remember Daimler-Chrysler? They pulled completely out of Chrysler, didn't they!

Elon Musk does have that magic touch, and so do many of the other execs at Tesla. Lots of high quality management there. The fact it, it's very feasible, and IS in production. Ask anyone who already owns a Roadster if it's 'feasible'. ;)

  • Well, I agree with some points, but you are really mistaken about several others. Tesla Motors is not a pipe dream, it's the ONLY production model all electric EV in the U.S. Just go look at the management team, and the investors, and you'll see it is quite real, and very viable as a new auto maker. The Chevy Volt is lacking in too many areas, and will cost more to own over the life of the car, due to all the mechanical parts of a gas combustion engine.

  • I only wish they used A123's phosphate lithium battery, which I believe is the future.

I think Chrysler thinks the same way because they picked A123 up and plan to run the same direction with the volt.

Tesla is a pipe dream, propaganda, a waste of money for marketing. But its showy and glib, which matters more to people like Obama than utility and truth.

Reinvent the USA will, but not from marketing, fame loving fakes. It will come from real innovators and real people of change.

  • I'll agree with you on re-inventing the auto industry.

But change for change sake when its idiots leading change does not make things better, Its like cows lining up willingly to slaughter.

The science of the battery was not his, anyone could put a shell on a lithium battery can call it his innovation. Maybe he took BS lessons from Steve Jobs, to stand on the shoulders of real geniuses.

The volt makes sense, no need to a new infrastructure, and much cheaper.

  • This car is pretty unfeasible, but don't put it past Elon Musk. Everything he touches is a success.

This car is looking more and more realistic, now that Tesla might get government loans. They also have profits coming in from building the batteries for smart cars, and a ten percent investment just made from Daimler. (Diamler wouldn't put money into a business without focus, or a "retard from silicone valley.")

Maybe we need to reinvent the auto industry, maybe detroit should follow.

  • Proof that he is a RETARD

He has a limited range and a huge cost that will not go down in price.

Versus Chevy Volt with 40mile electrical and 400-500 mile gas range extender thus no new infrastructure needed in the USA.

Yeah what a retard from silicon valley doesnt realize is utility. its pretty but pretty useless!
