Almost everyone familiar with Afghanistan agrees that a political settlement is the way to achieve a resolution to conflict there,. However, most disagree on how to achieve this settlement. In this package, Afghan experts Daniel Markey, Ahmad Majidyar, and Caroline Wadhams, as well as former US Ambassador to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad, weigh in on the current reconciliation process, and how to achieve a political settlement in the future. Unfortunately, most of them spoke in dire tones about the prospects of a settlement anytime soon.
