The Marquette women's volleyball team hosted its annual banquet Thursday, Feb. 10 to celebrate a successful season and honor four players with awards as voted on by their teammates and coaches.
Senior captains Nikki Klingsporn and Rabbecka Gonyo received the Most Valuable Player and Coaches' Award, respectively, while Ciara Jones was named Most Improved Player and freshman Catherine Mayer earned the Hustle Award.
The 2010 season was the program's best in school history, setting records in wins (23), BIG EAST Conference victories (11) and consecutive matches won (14). Second year head coach Bond Shymansky's squad closed the season with a 23-9 overall record (11-3 BIG EAST) and advanced to the BIG EAST Championship Semifinals.
