I have been a radio amateur for more than 20 years. It took me an hour a day for two months to learn Morse Code. I use Morse for 90% of my contacts. Today I has a Morse Code contact with a station on Easter Island (callsign XR0Y). Keep up the practice and maybe I'll hear you on the air some day. 73 de GJ0KYZ

@CE750 : understanding is more difficult than sending. Just start hearing by using the Koch learning software from G4FON (Freeware).
Have fun, DL3ZM!

I'm trying to learn Morse code for my self and wanted to ask.. what's harder to learn, the sending of code or the understanding what is sent? I seems like such an up hill battle to learn, I sure hope I can do it... how long does it take people to get "decent" at it if they practice an hour or two a day?

70 сh/21 sec = 200 ch/minute = 40 WPM, not 50 WPM.

Hi, aside from QRQ, that is only a way of doing CW, the most interesting speed is around 25 WPM. It is a good speed to have fairly interesting and long QSO's.
I wrote a book on this process: continuous and steady learning, but is in Italian only. If you practice every day (15-30 mins) it will take around 2-3 months to get up and runnning on air.
