ALSO NOT IN THIS VIDEO:
John 3:31. The word 'Others' added twice to read "He that comes from above is over all others... He that comes from heaven is above all others" ('Others' added without brackets)
In this video we shall compare the original Greek text to the translation found in the New World Translation, as published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. To do this, we shall consult the Kingdom Interlinear Translation, also published by the Watchtower Society.

According to the Kingdom Interlinear Translation (KIT):
"The word-for-word interlinear translation and the New World Translation
are arranged in parallel on the page, so that comparisons can be made
between the two readings. Thus, the accuracy of any modern translation can be determined.
The interlinear word for-word rendering has not been made by taking
the English word or phrase from the modern translation in the right-
hand column and transferring it to a position under the Greek word to
which it corresponds. Rather, the translation under each Greek word
sets out what the Greek word itself says according to its root meanings and
according to its grammatical form. So in many cases the reading in the
English word-for-word interlinear translation is not the same .as that
found in the right-hand column. This helps one to determine what the
Greek text actually, basically) says. In using these Interlinear readings,
one will find a greater demand for scrutiny than when reading the parallel flowing translation into English. Yet, in doing so, one is rewarded with increased Bible comprehension."

Here are the scriptures featured in this video:

John 8:58: "Before Abraham was, I AM"
(ref. Ex 3:14: "I AM has sent me to you"

Colossians 1:16-17: "For by Him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together"

Philippians 2:9: "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name"

Colossians 2:9: "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form"

Titus 2:13: "While we wait for the blessed hope - the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ"

2 Peter 1:1: "To those who through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours"

Acts 10:36: "You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all"

John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"

John 1:3: "Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made"

God is worshipped at Revelation 7:11, and the Greek word for worshipped is 'προσκυνέω' (proskyneō) and the same word is used when Jesus is worshipped at Matthew 2:2,8,11. Matthew 14:33 Matthew 28:9,17
Luke 24:52, Hebrews 1:6 and John 9:38.

"Jehovah" is inserted in many places including Revelation 1:8, which states:
""I am the Alpha and Omega," says the Lord God, "Who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty"

To Thomas, Jesus was his Lord and his God (John 20:28) and Revelation 22:12,13 confirms that the Alpha and Omega is Jesus Christ. (ref. Matthew 16:27, Revelation 1:17) and the One who is 'to come' is Jesus Christ (ref. Revelation 1:7, 22:7, 22:12, 22:20)

Romans 10:9: "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord,", and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved".

Acts 20:28: "Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He brought with His own blood"

Please note, this is not a personal attack on Jehovah's Witnesses in any way, but designed to show them that God's word IS the final authority and the only thing they ever need.

  • I've compared Bibles and the NWT and the NIV are my favorite

  • @52flipflop

    great, good for you

  • @truthoutmedia It is quite an interesting study comparing different translations with each other and with the original language. All translations add words to the English text, it would not make for easy reading if they didn't.

I often find that those who challenge the integrity of one translation are quite unaware of how accurate, or not, their own preferred version really is, and how the verses you have mentioned in this video are subject to theological bias in most bible versions

  • @TheCaledonianBoy

I think that the practice of adding words to the text is acceptable provided it does not dramatically alter the meaning. Unfortunately my studies have led me to understand that almost every theologically important scripture is passionately debated among great minds in these fields. I'd go so far as to say I will never be one of those great minds and, for me anyway, the entire spectrum of Bible studies could never be a closed book.

This is why I don't go along with JW beliefs.

  • @truthoutmedia I hope I have a fair amount of "honor", but no "honors". I do have many years of bible study behind me and enjoy using different translations in that study.

I have learned enough over the years, to be able to dispute any of the the points you make in the video.

I might not be a "W.E. Vine or a William Barclay, but fortunately for me these, and other scholars, have done a pretty good job for "unlettered and ordinary" folk like me.

Which bible do you prefer ?

  • @TheCaledonianBoy

to be honest, I don't have a preference.

I wasn't referring to some kind of degree in theology - as I am sure you agree it is the Holy Spirit that guides us into all truth.

When debating linguistics and grammar however, surely it would be foolish to think that anybody without qualification can translate ancient languages in the correct context.

This is why I ask, 'where did you get your honors?'

  • @truthoutmedia Glad to be of assistance.

So one must have an Honors Degree to be able to discern the truth of Gods word, and to know if someone is using faulty reasoning.

Strange you should ask that, as that was the very thing that confused the Jews concerning the apostles (Acts 4)

  • @TheCaledonianBoy

    Thanks for correcting me!

Just out of interest, where did you get your honors from?

  • @truthoutmedia You do not have much of an understanding of what a "word for word" translation is

Words such as "other" are inserted all over the bible in all translations.

"All" in the bible does not always mean "all" and is often used as a hyperbole
