Since both of the trucks were running the stock exhaust system, they are pretty quiet to begin with. The actual rollers on the dyno are louder than most engines anyway.

I like how you guys conveniently forgot to mention that smaller wheels on a dyno will effect the power output significantly.. Jump between the image of the first car and the next car and you will notice the car that has more power also has tiny wheels.. and the one that makes less has huge aftermarket wheels/tyres.

Actually, you have it backwards. The difference in tire size between the two trucks (first truck is running 31" tires and stock aluminum wheels, the second truck is running 29"-30" and the same stock aluminum wheels) gets compensated for by the dyno software as "drivetrain loss" and is a insignificant 1% to 2%.

As Dynojet puts it, "Going to a smaller-od tire is like increasing gear ratio; you lose horsepower.

Nice try. I'd recommend some research before posting next time.

15hp is bugger all for the money spent, its not even worth while modding the 22r its a pretty pathetic motor, surely a turbo kit or engine swap would be cheaper and more effective?

I did do my research. I called Dynojet (the manufacturer of the dyno that we used) and they gave me the quote:

"Going to a smaller-od tire is like increasing gear ratio; you lose horsepower."

Sorry, I have to go by their word.

awesome stuff. about to buy a 82 celica gt. i believe its carbureted. i want to replace the 22r with the 22re. and ive been looking at your motors. planning on supercharging the car also

Found water in my oil today on 85 22re, Just wondering where to start? Hopefully it a head gasket! If not! Im calling you guys for a long block! Im in to mpg too! Horse power and torque is nice to have on the trail. But Mpgs is number one in my book. Thank You OPEC!!!!!!! :(
