Once Upon A Time The Super Heroes

This is a documentary made in 2002 about the creation and evolution of comic book superheroes (with a greater leaning towards Marvel comics.)

It show us superheroes such as Batman, Superman, The Flash, The X-Men, Captain America, Silver Surfer, The Fantastic Four, Hulk, Daredevil; with more of a focus on Spider-Man because of the movie released at the time.

The documentary features the creators, writers & artists behind the superheroes such as Dave Gibbons, Alex Ross, Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Travis Charest, John Romita, Joe Kubert, Jim Lee, Carmine Infantino, Joe Simon, Mark Evanier, Paul Dini, Neal Adams, Joe Quesada, John Buscema, Bill Sienkiewicz and radio interview with Jerry Siegel.

Wow... Hearing Siegel speak he sounds like the absolute, quintessential nerd. A "Supernerd", if you will. :-)

I sometime wish we could all live in a superhero Universe, but then again just alone with the taxes we would have to pay with all these superhero trying to save the world every week I would want to leave NYC in a heart beat...lol

Thank you by proving my point by giving examples ... mainly from myths and non-super history, but still.

I mainly relied on my fantasy when writing that response, but i had no problem thinking out situations where a superhero would work equally well in the countryside as in the city.

There is only one reason for there to be more costumed heroes in the city than in the countryside, and that is that there are more people in the city.

Lot of Super heroes based on European and Asian gods and Heroes. Flash after Mercury, Aquaman after Posison, Superman like Hercules or Atlas.

Pecos Bill (1917) roamed the Countryside and so did Paul Bunyon (1906) and babe the blue ox. Hercules and Perseus did also, and Sinbad traveled around on a ship and Hercules did also when he was with Jason and the Argonauts. So they don't always use an urban setting. Robin Hood was also in country the basis for The Arrow and later Green Arrow.

Mowgli a boy takes on a tiger back in 1894, Rima Jungle Girl 1904, Tarzan 1912, John Carter of Mars 1912 could jump great distance and lift heavy things because of Mars lighter gravity.

An early Batman story young Bruce fell through the barn's floor to end up in the Batcave. However most often the crimes tend to be commited in the cities. However Mowgli the jungle boy, Rima the jungle girl, Tarzan of the apes, Kazar and Sheena Queen of the jungle take place in jungles. Submariner, Namorita and Aquaman, Aqualad and Mera in the ocean.Thor often fights in space and other dimensions.
