The Ruger #1 chambered in .45-70 is my favorite rifle. Great for when bison knock over your trash cans before the trash collectors empty them. Bison......its what's for dinner.

@Hanswurst27278 I thought the video had some of the best, and most realistic gun blast sound I've heard on Youtube.

yeah i own a ruger 3 45-70, and load my own for it. for dangerous game i like to load 350 grain barnes x bullets to travel about 2200 FPS. and for heavier bullets, like 500 grain hard cast lead to about 1400 FPS. i bought factory buffalo bore 430 grain bullets. eh they do the job, but then i loaded some420 grain hard casts to around 1800 FPS that penetrated shit just fine. so ruger 1 45-70, endless possibilitys

The No. 1 does not have a "stamped" receiver. It's either forged or an investment casting (probably the latter). My No. 1 is in 30-06 and I've never had an issue with the receiver getting hot.

the pistol was, but the gun that the Video was about wasn't out of frame. However, I'm sorry that the short amateur video I provided did not match your high expectations for the price you paid. I ask forgiveness for offending your tender sensibilities. My sincere apologies to all who viewed it.

You said your a mil-type weapons fan right? Im thinking of getting an AK-47 but Im not sure on which kind I should get . You got any advice?

buy yourself a cheap Romanian WASR ($320 from AIMsurpluscom) first to see if you hit it off with the AK's. If you like the platform, save some money up and buy a Vector AK from FBMGcom ($700-$800)

I have heard that the stamped receivers heat up very fast. How does your's perform?

didn't really have much problem with the receiver so much as with the tiny handguard. For a clumsy oaf such as myself its easy to slip off and inadvertantly grab the barrel. The heat coming off the receiver is not all that bad. just don't sling the rifle on your back without a shirt on...
