very good

you could probably do all this in blender if you wanted

Thanks! I'm not a total dumbass if that is what you think. I know about modeling and animation (I use blender seeing as it's free!) and I have Adobe After Effects 6.5. Thanks again.

I'm looking around to try and find out how you add 3d to real life (For instance adding shadows, Reflections, making 3d objects go behind stuff) Could you tell me?

hey banffozz i've been working with after effects and maya, but i don't know how to render the shadows without the plane in which this are casted, and also, do you use a green plane to remove the background??

when you select an object in Maya, on the right of the screen in the menu there should be the option "render stats" When in here select the object and make primary visibility "off" and cast shadows "off", but keep recieve shadows on.
As for the background, becasue it was a non moving camera i imported a single image. Do this by clicking "view", then down the list click "image plane". I didnt render out the backround in maya, it was just a reference point for the animation and lighting

Its complex if uv never done 3D before, but quickly put.
I made the robot in "Maya", and also some basic planes that I positioned to represent the floor that the robot walks on (these are invisible in the video but allow shadows to be cast on them). Position the lighting so it matches that of the real world.
I then rendered out the robot and shadows on different layers, and composited them together using "Digital Fusion".
you need a compositing program and a 3D program to do this.
