This is the last track on the 'Hot August Night' 1972 album.I love the drums in this and the organ. It is one of those really great performances.

  • I saw Neil live about 1983-84. Had it in my mind I was going to see "Hot August Night" Instead I got "Leisure Suit Larry" As long as I didn't look at him I could still enjoy the music.

  • @dwgrm457 The 80's was a bad hair, bad wardrobe time for Neil, but then I think it was for a lot of people. I see pictures from that period and wonder what in the world made us think that was attractive. He is doing pretty well for a 70 year old man. I hope to get to a concert in 2012.

  • This soing reminds me of "That Smell" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

  • @PlanTonto That surprised me. I love Lynyrd Skynyrd but what a dark song 'That Smell' is and this is much more up beat. You did make me want to pull out some Lynyrd Skynyrd to listen to. 'Simple Man' has to be one of my all time favorites and 'Give Me Three Steps' and 'Whats Your Name' were jukebox favorites.

    Smiles!

  • This album has to rank as one of the top 10 live albums ever made. From beginning to end it was awesome and yes it is Neil Diamond's best album.

  • I'm sure everyone will agree with me that this is by far the best album side of all time with Holly Holy, I Am I Said, and Soolaimon/Brother Love. It doesn't get any better than this!

  • I've seen ND in concert 4 different times...have never been able to stay in my seat throughout the entire concert!

  • If there was ever an album to rival the epic-ness of Dark Side of the Moon, it would be Hot August Night-Live at the Greek! For a single-listed performer, this has got to be THE most historic and will forever hold it's place in rock legendary-ism!

Thank you, Neil, for all the music. Live long and prosper, old friend!

  • this is classed as 1 of the greatest concerts ever made if not the best and neil was the only other solo singer to hold the title as the king of rock other then elvis

  • Best Album Ever. Ever. Ever.

  • DAMN ! this album has to be the best recorded music EVER ! I've worn out 3 of the original LP's - the 4th one stays where my daughter can't get her hands on it. Put in on the new sound system using an old but excellent quality turntable - crank up the sound and let Neil take us through the whole range of deep down feelings this whole LP generates. Wish to hell I'd been able to get to The Greek Theatre that night.

  • One of Neil Diamond's great tunes....so sad that he no longer writes good songs.

  • His first live album I did not care for, But this one is great, I used to hear cuts played on WDRC FM Hartford CT.

  • @4evermore12 You're right, that was a stupid comment I wrote. I don't know what I was thinking. Must have been a differemt song all together.....Cheers!!!!
