The drum track begins at around 1:00

This is THE drum track laid down by the man himself, Mike Mangini for "On the Backs of Angels"!

Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any requests for a particular mix of "On the Backs of Angels" and I might just upload whatever mix you want me to...

Enjoy!

UPDATE:

I've been asked many times where one can get the stems for On the Backs of Angels. You can download the stems for "On the Backs of Angels" here, provided you have a physical copy of 'A Dramatic Turn of Events':

  • Must've reached 100,000 total upload views sometime yesterday or today. Much thanks and love to all those who watch the videos. You guys rock!

  • So the story is that JP wrote all drumtracks and MM just recorded everything just after he joined the band? Hopefully there will be a next DT-album where MM gets more time to add even cooler stuff to the songs!

  • @trollkunst It would be more accurate to say that JP created a skeleton of the basic drum tracks which he handed to Mangini so that he could flesh it out to his desire. And if all goes accordingly, the next album will, indeed, feature musical and creative input from Mike Mangini.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • I dislike the snare this way. Now it sounds like his snare was recorded in a giant hall separately. Rest of the kit sounds dead compared to his snare.

  • @iCe1984zz Well, you know what they say....

Wait - what is it they say again?

  • @Easleytee Suck a fat d, yo :)

  • its so tight it almost sounds like programmed tracks lol

  • love it but i wish this album had the production that black clouds had...

  • @iCe1984zz well when u mix in all the other instruments you can't really notice it

  • Metal Horns button for Mike Mangini \m/ \m/ --->

  • @Easleytee You know why Mangini's playing is ridiculously unmusical? Because No drummer can play what he can play. I seen videos of Marvin "Smitty" Smith and Tony Royster Jr because of your comment and I was not impressed. Mike can play beats that Marvin "Smitty" Smith and Tony Royster Jr combined while punching them in the face and starting new Dream theater song. Dont forget, Mike Mangini is the worlds fastest drummer.

  • what he plays is awesome, but i dislike a lot about his sound.

snare has no bottom end and 2 much hall. hi hat, specially the open one sounds very bad. cymbals in general vary to much in volume and most of them sound thin. toms sound dead and dampened 2 much. bass is ok, but not outstanding.

overall: not even close to the black clouds drumsound, or many other recently recorded drums on rock albums.

  • @iCe1984zz yeah, but in the mix, it sounds fine.
