If you'd have done your homework instead of just stating assumptions for facts, then you'd have heard the producer talking about a trilogy and the continuation of the story arc in the NEXT MOVIES.

Blade Runner was bashed in similar fashion as people attack Prometheus on making sense. 30+ years later, Blade Runner is considered a classic. And considering cretins and critics also said Kubrik's 2001 made no sense. I find the Prometheus hate bemusing, and can't wait to see if history repeats itself.

Blade Runner was a standalone film set in it's own universe. It's special effects complemented it's story and characters and really there are only two characters and the story is a simple one.

Prometheus, as a prequel/sequel, must be compared with it's companions and it was found wanting.

When you strip away the special effects, you're left with a flimsy story with poor pacing and plot holes and two dimensional characters, not to mention a marketing campaign that was better than the move.

I like very much, without any restriction EXCEPT IF THIS FILM ISN’T FOLLOWED BY A SECOND ONE! Pometheus 2 would answer all questions put by the first one and would explain what seems mysterious in it (why do the engineers who created the mankind want now destroy it? Quid about the ship seen at the end of Prometheus?). A hardly strict montage, sequences cut short, many ellipsis, a hermetic story… Without a part 2, Prometheus is a quite unfinished movie.

Yes I agree, those particular films were not really made for the mainstream. With Promrtheus Ridley knew the Alien franchise had grown to a point it attracted both mainstream as well as hardcore fans. And yes it does hav its flaws, if only they can sort these out for the sequel, but still keep in the direction they seem to be heading and not just make another bug-hunt type movie like most the other sequels became.

Prometheus was a great movie considering special effects and storyline, but had alot of childish failures in it, which made it not all that convincing. It was typically made for an american audience, longing for a more sensational movie. Blade Runner and 2001 are for a much more adult audience. Thats why alot of people have found those 2 boring. For me they were alot more convincing than Prometheus. Although Prometheus was quite a ride..
