Maybe because the girls competing are part of the Catalunya team and not the Spanish team. If you don't understand their point of view maybe you shoud research about it a little bit. They have plenty of reasons actually.

Your teacher said it's a dialect???? It's a completely different language. Similar to Spanish because it's still in the Romance branch of the Indo-European languages, but it has its own rules and dictionary.

@afgymnast96 Uh, the language they speak in Catalunya is Catalan. That's what the commentators in this clip are speaking. It's a separate language in its own right, not a dialect of Spanish. It's pretty similar to Spanish and French, but still different enough from them.

they're an autonomous region in spain, but that doesn't mean they're independent from Spain, if that's what you thought.. I can't understand why Cataluña vs Ukr vs Ger anyway.. Spain vs Ukraine vs Germany it seems more apropiete to me , i never really understood catalans's point about their independence, it's ridiculous.
