Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope debates Chevron CEO Dave O'Reilly about reducing emissions 20-25% by 2050. Pope argues Americans can do much better with new technology. Both executives agree that cleaner burning natural gas must replace dirty coal.

-----

Chevron and the Sierra Club both see renewable fuels as a growing part of our future. Yet as the world transitions to a low-carbon economy, they have different views on how that change should occur and who should bear the costs.

Higher taxes? Voluntary conservation and efficiency? Government mandates?

In their first-ever public conversation, O'Reilly and Pope discuss balancing energy and the environment in the 21st century. - The Commonwealth Club of California

  • @rocketsredglare101 yes indeed, the huge polluting influx of white invadors drastically increased toxic emisssions in North America as a whole. There should indeed have been a ban on our imigrations.

  • "Free Energy" is Geothermal powered by volcanos. Why do you think God gave us the Ring of Fire? And why are people messing around with uranium anyway? WE COULD BE PUTTING IN GEO-THERMAL POWER PLANTS JUST AS FAST AS WE PUT IN A DRILLING PAD!!! Silly Humans.

  • Free energy is finaly here! But the Big corporations spend millions to ensure that information does not spread to the masses,Get a real free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Join the energy revolution!

  • I think the best way to reduce carbon emissions in the west is to have an immigration moratorium. Statistics clearly show the USA population grew by 100 million in the last 40 years and nearly all the growth was due to immigration.

The west could drasically reduce carbon emissions with a reduction in immigration and population and would have nearly stable growth in the USA with a moratorium on immigration.

  • Now let's see if a handshake means something to a Chevron CEO....

  • That guy is sharp. The fat cats gotta lose some weight. They are slowing our country down.
