the old man had a point... and he was right. Julie and Felicity started out AS friends but it wasn't enough to BECOME best friends. it takes more than a year to get that. you don't get a best friend, YOU EARN IT. so they never were the best of friends or best friends at all. just friends and that's it. Best is something you gain by earning, that was the old man's message to them.
