My favorite scene from Return of the King:

"End? No the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The gray rain-curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it ... white shores and the beyond. A far green country under a swift sunrise."

These words make death is just like a door, open to the bright and peaceful world with who accept it.

My best friend is fatally ill at a very young age, about to die within the next few weeks. He never saw LOTR.

I told him of Valinor by using Gandalf's words, a land where he'll be healthy again & that one day I'll follow & we'll see again at the white shores. Despite all sorrow he assured me that this is the most beautiful idea of dying he ever heard about. And that it doesn't sound bad indeed to travel there.

I'll cry like hell when he's gone. But this will help me to remember him. Always.

I really like this sentence: Death is just another path, one that we all must take. That's a fact and the way he said that. Beautiful. So simple but pure philosophy!

If I knew I was going to die tomorrow, I'm not sure if I'd be scared, but I sure as hell would be sad... There are so many cool things I wouldn't be able to experience before I died

Why is it any harder at say, 25? Im an adult, and im not immature or anything, i understand death, believe me. But death is the only certain thing in life, so why be scared of something, the onl thing, that i know for a fact will happen to me at some stage? Its pointless to worry over it.

Well, im a little worried about how i might die, say if it was going to be painful or something, then i would be scared, but if i knew my death would be quick/peacful/painless, then i wont be scared, not even if it was tomorrow.

Valinor is basically Tolkien's version of heaven.
