Ilsa kindly agreed to harvest our Saskatoon berry shrub. Delicious, dark purple berries thickly cover the branches. Of all the berries we taste around the garden, it is my favourite, perhaps because it is rare and never seen as fresh fruit in our stores. Why don't we grow it commercially in Vancouver; or at least in our backyards?

  • Thank you for this introduction to Amelanchier Alnifolia. I will be planting such a bush in the spring and hope to eventually be able to harvest and taste these lovely berries. These are unknown to me in my part of Quebec.
