in a world of endless musical commercialisation I always wonder if I have to escape into abstract art to escape all that blandness. Richard reminds me how much you can do with three chords, a voice and an acoustic guitar - if you are inspired and if you understand how great a knowledge and value is hidden in traditional folk music. That's music which brings you at peace with yourself - invaluable!

@ theturniing of the tide Ohh, it is famous!! Every artist, some great great, some wannabes, cut their teeth on this song! It definitely separates the wheat from the chaff. But nothing beats the original creators with their original creation!

@mikesakhalin I don't think he did, completely, did he?

Alison Krauss's version is awesome, but my favorite is David Gilmour's from his Meltdown concert!

FAN-TAS-TIC :-)

Unbelieveably I only discovered this song 4 days ago on the A. Krauss album, which in it's self is beautiful. Sitting proudly in the top 50 songs I have heard. Some other great versions to found on youtube, so check them out. Love songs don't get much better.

@MsEekhoorn You can sing this one so beautiful!

Isn't it wonderful? Love is mindless, without pride, without protection. We, like children, all need unconditional love at the "dimming of the day". Children ask for it without shame. Adults pay songwriters to express their feelings. Still adults and children meet in the feeling place through the arts.
No wonder we pay "entertainers" such enormous sums of money! Rock on!!
This has to be the most beautiful love song ever written. Every time I listen to this version, I get goose bumps.

@ronkopald I totally agree with your assessment of this song. It is one of my all time favourites, too beautiful for words. I shade my head and wonder why it is not more famous.
