HOLLA! Today me and my friend decided to go see the PREQUEL to the cult classic 80's survival horror film "The thing" The song isn't mine and neither is the poster, or the actual alien that crashed in my backyard.

  • the writers weren't norwegians. Don't try to pin the script-fail on them, dude.

  • @ThSkBj I assume your Norwegian? My apologies I had no intention on offending you or anybody else of Norwegian decent.

  • good review. I think the film does as a pretty good companion to the original and there's so much familiar stuff to spot and the CGI is a problem, but they only had like 3 months to do the special effects so I'd say they did pretty well, but having the "Thing" made with CGI allowed it to get into more action. I could go on for ever about things to like about this film, people try to hate it too much.

I'm also a HUGE fan of the original and I still think it's one of the scariest films ever made.

  • @aliensharkboy Going into the theater people will jus have to realize that its going to be an action movie rather than a horror. I definitely understand where they're comming from and for 3 months the CGI looked pretty good. I think people who havent seen the original (Alot) would enjoy this more. And thank you(:

  • The music makes it almost impossible to concentrate on the poster's verbal review.

  • @Albacorewing yehh i definitely should have turned it down!

  • Great review, I agree with you man. The prequel just felt like a run of the mill popcorn flick to me. Very predicable, and cliche, just a very studio corrupted modern action movie. the CGI looked too clean and bloodless, it does not hold up to this today's standards. JC's The Thing on the other hand has incredibly realisc creatures, better designs, more tension, better characters, a better told story etc. A masterpiece.

  • @117piehitman :P hehe. Just wanted to point it out.

  • Yes, the original thing feels more "solid", "real" and the deformations were more bizarre. This prequel feels like as if I was watching Resident Evil. It's simply disappointing.

  • @117piehitman Meh, what do I know, I haven't even seen the film... you see I live in the UK so I have to wait 2 months to see it. :P I have hopes for this film though.
