You mentioned being glad you don't live near Donner Lake. Does it snow more there? Only curious because I love the region and would like to move there some day.

Hi Plutonium9: Yes, statistically Donner Lake and Truckee receive more snow than Glenshire. Though still technically part of Truckee, Glenshire is about 5 miles east, and is known as the "banana belt". We get about half the snow that Truckee/Donner Lake get. For a comparison, our winter lasted from November 2010-June 2011. In May, in Glenshire, I had grass poking up. In Donner Lake, there was still about three feet of snow. Depending on your income, living up here can be difficult. Good luck.
