Actor, Singer and Vaudeville Star Edward M. Favor sings "Who Threw the Overalls in Mrs. Murphy's Chowder", on an Edison Gold Moulded 2 minute Cylinder Record from 1901. The Phonograph is an Edison Triumph Model A from the same year. The Triumph A had the triple spring "Triton" Motor which was one of the most powerful and long playing spring wound motors of its time.

  • may i ask how rare this cylinder is?, it is at the top of my wanted list yet it has never come up for sale,i have never even seen another apart from yours anywhere after having my eye open for it for over a year!

  • @kirtley2010 I believe you just answered your own question! If you haven't seen it come up in a years time for sale anywhere including ebay then it is a rare item. This is the only copy I have ever found in my years of collecting. There is no book on early cylinders from the Turn of the Century, that really tells you which ones are rare and which ones are common. If you have a want list, you should join MAPS, and you can advertise it for free in ITG the "6 times a year" magazine.

  • This is about the best-playing 2-minute machine I've heard. Thanks for this video.

  • @gmmix You are very welcome, so glad you enjoyed it ! The Edison Triumph A contained the largest and strongest spring motor of its time, and that combined with a excellent Model A Reproducer, and the Large 11 Pedaled Morning Glory Horn, to improve the sound volume, results in the fantastic sound you hear from this very early turn of the Century Edison 2 minute black wax Cylinder record. Thanks for watching.

  • @akamcpimp It is comments like this that make my efforts to bring to life the great phonograph entertainment of the past so worth it. So glad your grandma was able to rekindle past memories, and enjoyed this original performance and record from early part of the last century.
