Is this method of finishing as strong as a whip finish?
I am new to fly tying and indeed fly fishing, I have found all your videos so helpful and the theme tune co catchy I find myself humming and whistling it during the day!!
Please keep up the good work..

Thank You Mr Cammiss!! Can't use my whip finish tool either and the "manual whip finish" forget it!
This knot is is brilliant I will never use anything else now, just started tying (and fly fishing) at 22 and have already done some buzzers and montana nymphs (thanks mainly to your videos!)
At first I thought "I can't see me doing this" but now its addictive!
All I need to do is catch a trout now!!
Many Thanks

I wanted to thank you for teaching me to tie. I started about a year and a half ago and without your videos I would have surely given up. I look forward to every new video. Thanks again!!!

If you have a good whip finishing tool, then it is much faster doing a whip finish, but if you have to do some really delicate work like on a #18 Klinkhammer, then the double halve hitch is the prefered manner since the whip finish tools are too big for the more delicate work.

That makes it a lot clearer, many thanks Dave. Previous attempts to replicate what I thought you were doing missed out the second hitch and usually ended up in disaster! Had success earlier this year with your crane fly pattern, a beautifully marked, gutsy 1 lb brown from the Wansbeck, many thanks. You could do a tutorial for the Adams dry, as a newcomer to fly fishing and tying, it has been a straight forward tie and deadly for me this season.
