Results, good or bad, are subject to tape manufacture quality! So, It depends on what we have. Some tapes are over sticky like band-aid or electrical insulation tape. I could not get good quality in Hyderabad. Any way, thank you.

Thanks for this video post. I am surprised how many new photographers do not believe in old tried and true methods which only uses simple household products. I have used "3M Magic Tape" to clean filters for years.

Interesting tutorial. I like it because it is uses frugal ingenuity.
However shouldn't it be titled "Ultimate guide on how to lift loose dust and particles from your camera lens?" I tried it out on a cheap 52mm wide angle lens that needed cleaning from smudges and dust. The dust and particles came entirely off, but it takes multiple fresh pieces of tapes and repeated attempts to get some of the smudges off.
Thanks for the tip.

heey did anyone try this tutorial yet?
it leaves adhesive behind, which will eventually build up and sacrifice your sharpness.

@scratchnsurf Lens cleaning is not for chickenhearted. After I have published my tutorial I have seen a commercial product got introduced in the market which cleans DSLR sensors by using this same principal.

Surely using any kind of sticky tape is going to leave some residue behind of whatever makes the tape sticky in the first place...

@ProducerStuartBrown Why don't you try it on a piece of glass? Do you know that it is impossible to have a thin film residue on glass without you able to see it? Even the thinnest of the thin film will cause diffraction and you will see it just like you can see the finger print oil smudges on your reading glass. So if you cannot see it, there is zero residue, period. This is physics and not any wishy washy non-techie garbage

@donalduck815 Sorry for replying late, I somehow missed your post. have seen a tiny scratch on the front element does not cause any effect in any photograph unless you are focusing very close to the camera in macro mode or stopping down on aperture or directly pointing the camera to a very bright source of light. In a small digi cam you will probably never try such shots special shots. So do not worry about it :-)
