The Thunderstorm of the year 2011 (until now), in Oradea, on 8th June 2011 - in HQ!

The best T-Storm in this year, and I think in my whole Stormchaser career! In 8th June we have 3 T-Storms, whitch directly hit the city, and 2 more miss us. The 1st storm produce a heavy rainfall to east, and a beautyful rainbow! A small part of the previous storm develop back above the city. After the second heavy rainfall, out of nowhere, appears a lot of intense cloud to ground lightning strikes. One huge lightning directly hit one flat, just 600 m from me! More big lightning bolts hit the ground in just few minutes...

The second storm comes after just 30 min. after the first. It was the weakest storm of the day, with heavy rain, and just with a few lightning. The core of the second storm(s) were at approx. 10 km to NW and at approx. 20 km at E. A huge anvil cloud has devolop above the city.

The third, and the most powerful in this year 2011 (and in my Stormchaser career), was hit us, from SW, at 19:00 UTC (after sunset). This storm produced a very intense of cloud to cloud lightning show, before the storm itself has arrived. At 19:30 the storm hit the city, with a brutal shelf cloud, and severe wind gusts. I was forced to retire from balcony back to the house. Unfortunately, the house ist currently under construction, and don't have any doors or windows. This mean, I took a very strong winds in my face, with a lot of water. To avoid this, I retired to the back of the house. Here was no rain, or wind! :) And then begins the lightning bolt armageddon! The house is at the botom of a hill. That hill recieves a lot of lightning strike. At the other part of the hills, it's a city street, with houses. The first lighning strikes was hit the city, back to me. As the storm moves progress, the strikes comes closer, and closer to me, and the hill. This is the part, what I caugt on tape, from the back of the house. First I filmed only with the videocamera. But when I see the wind, and the rain is slowly go away, I took the second camera in video mode. This was the scariest moment of the storm. A few very close strikes (less than 100m). The thunderclaps were very loud and with brutal bass force. After 10 min of very close strikes (under 1 km), it caught on tape a few very bright, and powerful lighning. Two of this strikes, hits (I think) elecric wires, or, poles, producing a short lights up. Several lightning bolts hits the buildings in the city (flats). One lightning directly hit a TV antenna, on the roof of one of my friend's flat. In some cases, this CG lightning strikes ignite buildings (roofs).. After this immpresive storm, I managed to capture a several distant, but scenic CC lightnings. The storm slowly desintegrates at 22:00 UTC. Later it was a few more intense shower. I arrived home at 22:15 UTC, tired, but with an extreme adrenaline experience! :)
