So, according to these rules of the game, altruism plays no part not only in warfare but in all of society. Using Nash's theory there is a "payoff" to this using of selfishness. In war there is use for this thinking, but I see no reward to society outside of war. It would seem working together for the benefit of all is the correct rule of behavior for the "payoff" or reward to society to come about. The thought of working together being unpredictable and dangerous -outside of war- is silly.

I watched "A Beautiful Mind" and had respect for John Nash. One of my favorite movies. Now I find out from this documentary what this "theory of equilibrium" is all about, I don't see anything beautiful about it. "a delicate balance of terror" describes it best and hasn't the majority of wars and potential wars throughout history contained this element? Of course nuclear weapons make the "game playing" use much higher stakes, but I see no difference in the strategy

    used throughout history.
