Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) asked Energy Secretary Dr. Steven Chu (Nobel Prize, Physics) "I have one simple question for you in the last six seconds. How did all the oil and gas get to Alaska and under the Arctic Ocean?" Rep. Burton was apparently puzzled by the answer, understandably so, since it's a little more complex than a six second answer. I posted another video that gives an overview of where oil comes from; this video goes into more detail about plate tectonics. It's 4:36 seconds, so about four and a half minutes longer than the answer you requested. This is from NASA. The USGS also has a fantastic page on the topic called "This Dynamic Earth" if you are interested: http://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/dynamic/dynamic.html#anchor19309449

  • This video is misleading in that Pangea broke up long before those Colorado dinosaur bones existed. Alaska has been far North for over 200 million years, way before those 150 ma bones. The Earth was warmer inside and out, and there was SEVEN TIMES the present CO2 in atmosphere.

Chu is ignorant, but at least he did not need a teleprompter?

  • Yea, Reagan never used a teleprompter either. Neither did King George II.

  • he's probably doesn't believe in dinosaurs either.

  • Oh, I'm sure he does: They were all killed in the flood. Now if we can get him to explain how they ended up in different layers and why they didn't get on the Ark and... let's give him 6 seconds to answer... and GO!

  • Yeah, earth geology and plate tectonics only happens in Colorado. You sure nailed 'em!

  • @MEASEMAN11 But obviously, you haven't studied English.

  • Heh! this video is far too advanced in subject matter for Barton.

  • maybe you should find out alittle about what your talking aout before leaving comments, i've studed plate tectonics, have you?

  • i think that most of these people think that alaska is frozen all year round, lol, maybe they sould see the swomps that pop up in the summer

  • Measeman11 -

you must be from Texas ...

    Bless you secessionist Heart

  • Dinosaurs were created by God. Same god who created Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve had children. Through incest, they created next generation and that is where we all come from.

If you don't believe me, go see the creationism museum. Oh, and the plates were created by the same god. Same goes for those underground pipelines that go from Texas to Alaska. Alaska was soooo hot that you could literally see Russia.
