Most modern music uses jazz roots. That being said I don't really think that just because that's the way he wrote we should keep applying it to the same format. Art and inspiration are nothing but preserved copies of past endeavors if we don't take creative license with them.

Dharma Bums is the greatest book I've ever read... same basic philosophy as On the Road only a little more purified.
