Richard Farrant became choir master of the Chapel Royal and was familiar with both Thomas Tallis and William Byrd. Little has survived from his compositions. This piece was sung as a motet after the peoples communion during Holy Mass. The images are that of the Traditional true Mass of Trent in the Latin rite.
'Lord, for thy tender mercies sake', now thought to have been written by (the Catholic) John Hilton.

We sang this at Mass today. It is one of our favourites.

Thanks for the beautiful music you have placed in Youtube. For me, it is the most favourite song to play on the organ after communion. MAy I know where to get a CD which has this sacred music?
